September flew by! We traveled to/camped at Stone Mountain Park in Georgia to see our niece ride in a horse show and bookended the trip with single overnights at Tugaloo State Park. We enjoyed time with family and walks around the campgrounds, and even got up early to hike to the top of Stone Mountain to watch the sunrise. If you ever get the chance, do it!

Next, we traveled to Oak Island, NC to visit with my cousin, Diane, and her husband, Tony, at their beach house. Diane and I have discussed a visit for a few years and finally worked it into both our schedules. Matt and I had a blast catching up with them, touring the island, sitting on the beach and watching the sunset. We had never been to Oak Island before and quickly fell in love with the community. We’ll definitely go back!

We kicked off October with a flight to Arizona to stay with friends Cathy and Eric. Cathy had shoulder replacement surgery and welcomed help around the house during her recovery. Although we helped with grocery shopping, preparing meals, walking Finlay, and assisted with home projects, the warm weather getaway was a much needed change in scenery and recharge for us. Sunshine, blue skies, palm trees, and low humidity are good for the soul. The “ring of fire” eclipse was very cool as well.
