Well, that went by quickly. We’re home now, arrived March 9th. What a whirlwind trip. I’ll go ahead and say, I intended to post all the time while gone, quipping and coming up with interesting and insightful stuff. Didn’t happen.
Last travel update was from Matagorda, TX, where we hunkered down inside over some rainy days. However, we did manage in between the down days to do three Walmart trips, a couple of restaurants, and a pool/hot tub day. It was good to catch up with our “originally supposed to go with” pack members. We left there and had a really great few days on Galveston Island. A really nice campground pool and a great stretch of beach. Figuring this would be some of our last beach weather, we soaked it up.

From Galveston, we added Louisiana and Alabama to our USA sticker map. On the way West, we had passed the USS Alabama ship and museum and promised ourselves to go on the way back home. We did, and it was great fun. The smells inside the ship and the submarine were divine.

Turns out Galveston wasn’t our last gasp of shorts weather; we had a great stretch during our stay near Gulf Shores. Even had a pool day. We watched Duke lose it’s last regular season game and all of the ceremony of Coach K’s last game in Cameron on the inside and outside tvs. Then on they way home, we stayed at a couple of lovely little state parks, Chewacla, AL and Lake Hartwell, SC, for one night each. One night in V’s folks yard and then, bam, we were back home.

It was a wonderful trip and we spent our attention on the road and on what we were doing. As always, V was the better at remembering to take pictures and otherwise document stuff. I tried to remember to, and to be on social media, but I’m finding out it’s just not something that comes naturally to me. It’s fun and I like interacting with folks, I just need to do better about remembering.
Speaking of social media, V started an Instagram page for one of our pack members, Finlay, and it’s gaining some traction. He’s a really cute Westie with a great personality. Finlay’s human is our pack friend and is providing the content, while V largely is doing the posting. https://www.instagram.com/hims_name_finlay/
We’re here for a week, then back on the road again for a long weekend in Kentucky. Bourbon Trail stuff, so we’ll likely post some pics of distilleries and such. I think bourbon is icky.
Love the photos! Glad you are home safely. Look forward to pics of the next trip!!

M & V,
Thanks for taking us along with you on your adventures! It was ALMOST like being there.
Today, while watching Diners, Drive-ins & Dives, I thought of you Mathew. Knowing you appreciate great food, I think you need to plan your next trip to include as many triple D restaurants (and food trucks) as possible. š

Thanks Wander, I do feel bad for not posting more. There was definitely lots of material, but I got lazy. I like the idea of going from food to food (we kinda already do), but I’ll need to do better about exercising. Eating our way across the country while mostly sitting is no bueno.
