Love where you live

I love where we live – but not the cold weather. I endure the 4 months of winter waiting for the reward of the weather the rest of the year. I love a beautiful snow day – one day. After that, I’m over it – ready for summer!

There is a sense of accomplishment though when my 4Runner (there have been a few over the years) and my cautious driving – some might say Granny-style – get me to my destination safely. Though not essential like the medical professionals at our hospital, I was always proud when I got to work on a bad weather day. I was also thankful my job allowed me to work from home from time to time.

As I write this, we’re back in our friends’ backyard in Arizona where it’s sunny and 80 degrees. This is the kind of weather I prefer, but I know it’s a different story here in July and August.

I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity to visit warmer locations, especially during these months when NC has gotten more than its share of cold, snow and ice.  I hope Matt and I can continue to ‘escape’ the cold weather as often as we chose. [I generally now agree with everything Vicki has said here. In years past I would say I enjoyed winter weather. I do still, and it is beautiful, but I’m looking forward to the heart growing fonder for it because we’re away from it more. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this warm weather getaway. – Matt]

I know the grass is always greener and it’s tempting, but I don’t want to move. I love where we live.
